Support at home and in community settings for children with additional needs (i.e. developmental delay, Autism Spectrum Disorders)

Having a child with additional needs brings it’s own unique set of challenges for the child, their family, and all who are involved in the child’s care and education.

While it can be necessary to see children in a clinical setting to assess and address specific concerns, it is also beneficial for children to have the opportunity to learn and practice skills in the environment in which they will use them most. For example, a child with Autism who needs to develop social skills may benefit from some one-to-one therapy, and may then gain most from practicing those skills in the classroom or playground under the Psychologist’s supervision.

Okey Dokey provides consultations and therapy at home, at school/kinder or in professional suites depending on your need.

Cognitive assessments and reports

Okey Dokey conducts cognitive assessments for the purposes of funding through the Program for Students with Disabilities, or to investigate possible learning difficulties. Assessments include a comprehensive psychological report and strategies for future learning.

Behaviour management strategies for parents and teachers

Sometimes a child's behaviour can seem too much to deal with alone. Okey Dokey can assess behaviour difficulties and work with parents and teachers to develop specific strategies to modify a child's behaviour. 

Social skills training

Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder often have difficulty interacting positively with peers, understanding social situations and making friends. Okey Dokey can provide individual social skills training to assist children to learn and develop appropriate skills.  

Assistance with identifying and managing emotional and behavioural difficulties

Many children experience difficulties with anxiety, emotional regulation and challenging behaviour that impacts on their ability to manage at home and participate in the community.  Okey Dokey provides one-to-one therapy and support for children and their families to help children learn to manage these difficulties in a positive way. 

Workshops for Parents and Professionals

Okey Dokey can provide professional development tailored to your organisation's needs. Workshops can be held at conference rooms or onsite at your venue.

Parent support can also be provided in the form of workshops targeting common issues such as positive behaviour management and toilet training.
